Up to photograph 1000 on flickr! Not all of them public.
This is my latest snap, of an hoverfly sitting on a black plastic ashtray. The photo was taken after a drunken evening playing poker in the garden, hand held with my macro lens and ring-flash.
More Drops
March 4, 2010 on 6:01 pm | In Photography | Comments OffThis water drop photography is getting quite addictive. There is a lot more to it than you might think. This one is red water dropped into a water and milk mixture. There are many more pictures on my flickr photostream.

Got a new Macro lens the other day, a Tamron 90mm f2.8, which I am loving to bits at the moment.
Its amazing what you don’t see when its right in front of you until you stop time….
Stormy Weather
July 19, 2009 on 12:31 pm | In Photography | Comments OffYou can tell its summer here in the UK, lots of nice storm clouds, and rain, and wind, and rain. This is an HDR composite of 3 images, normal and +/- 1 stop.

Gavs Eye

I got some el-cheapo Chinese extension tubes from e-bay this week, bargain price of £7.99. I thought I would see what they could do with my 300mm zoom set to macro mode. I wasn’t expecting a very good image as they have no electrical contacts for the camera to control the aperture of the lens.
I applied a saturation filter to the image to get the black & white effect, masking out the coloured part of the eye. I am fairly pleased with the result, considering I was a bit drunk when I took the photo, on the full size image you can really see the texture on the back of the eyeball thru the pupil.
The Moon
February 15, 2009 on 4:32 pm | In Photography | Comments OffI have recently upgraded my old Nikon compact camera to a Canon EOS 1000D DSLR, which I am VERY happy with. You can expect to see lots more photo’s posted here, probably too many.
This photo was taken using a 300mm Tamaron Zoom Lens mounted (only just) on a cheap tripod. The tripod is so lightweight that with the lens extended to 300mm it shakes like mad. I had to use the mirror lockup feature and a 10 second timer to avoid as much camera shake as possible. I had to tweak the image a bit in Camera Raw to bring out some detail. Just waiting for the weather to clear and my mate to bring his telescope round for some more astronomy photos.
Giant Moth
July 18, 2008 on 7:06 pm | In Photography | No CommentsDoes anyone out there know what kind of moth this is?
Our cat had a go at catching it, but I managed to rescue it before she finished it off. Its the largest damn moth I have ever seen in the UK, it sounded almost like a bat flying around, its wings were that big.
